IcOACH4FAMILIES
After 5 years of facilitating our programmes with both children and parents, we have realised that the best possible outcome is to create a wrap around programme, which allows the family to share in the learning and experience together. iCoach4families is the same programme that we use with kids, but we bring their parent's into the programme to participate in all the activities, games and techniques. In iCoach4families parent's leave their parenting hat at the door, and enter the space to learn and contribute in the same way the kids do.
When parents are engaged and part of their children's learning, the benefits are far greater for the whole household, and the outcomes more long lasting for the family.

Sometimes it can be awkward or stressful trying to create learning opportunities for our own family, I know... I have pulled my kids into all kinds of positive "experiments" over the years! In iCoach4familes I do all the silly stuff to get the kids on board, and the joke is on me if the activity flops - not you!

So I invite you to get this party started with your kids, and take the opportunity that has been created to gain this unique insight into their thinking, feelings and beliefs about themselves, and embark on the exciting journey of transforming your household.

Lesson Outlines

Lesson One : Self Talk:
In this lesson you learn about how your brain and body are connected, and how you have self talk, which are the thoughts you say to yourself, that no one else can hear! You discover that your thoughts create electrical signals that zizzle, wizzle, fizzle and travel over the bridge of your brainstem, into your body, affecting your feelings. You also realise that thankfulness, or gratitude, is a great way to change your selftalk, and the way you feel

Lesson Two : Switch
In this lesson you learn that you are the boss of your brain, and if you don't like the train of thought you are on, and where it is taking you, you can change it! You do this by using the Switch, which is a series of actions and words that tell your brain you want to change direction, and get on the Happy Train! You also learn the Switch song, which you can practice every day.
Lesson Three : Acceptance
In this lesson you learn the 1st iCoach Belief, "I am Good Enough, I don't need to compare myself to others". This is where you really start to become your own coach. We watch a cool story which shows you that there is no way you can measure yourself against other people, because everyone is equal but has different strengths, and you learn that you have amazing strengths too.

Lesson Four : Hope
In this lesson you learn the 2nd iCoach Belief "I'll be OK, these feelings will fade away, I choose to be brave" which is all about managing sad or challenging feelings. You learn about how sad feelings don't last forever, just like the clouds always pass by, so do your sad feelings. You also discover the difference between sadness and grief, and that some sad things take longer to pass.

Lesson Five : Reassurance
In this lesson you learn the 3rd iCoach Belief, "It's not about me, people hurt other's because they are hurt too." You learn about bullying being like a domino effect, which starts with one person being bullied, then that person tips over and passes it onto the next person, and it can carry on and hurt lots of people. You also discover how kindness can be passed onto others too, and think of ways you can start a kindness domino effect at school or home.

Lesson Six : Value
In this lesson you learn the 4th iCoach Belief, "I have a high value, and nothing others do changes that." You discover that even if others treat you bad, that doesn't take away your value, because they are not the boss of your value. You are one of a kin, which makes you very valuable, and you are priceless, which means there is no amount of money in the world worth more than you. You are valuable just for being you!

Lesson Seven : Belonging
In this lesson you learn the last iCoach Belief, "I belong here, this world was made for me". You learn that the world is made up of all kinds of different people, and families, and that you have a place in this world, even if you feel different or left out sometimes, because everyone feels left out sometimes. You also discover that nature can be a great friend, and is always there for you to enjoy.

What other parents say
-
After doing iCoach with my 8 year old daughter, her teachers and I noticed a big improvement in her confidence, and her school invited iCoach4kids to be run at the school, because of her notable change and feedback to the principal - Bonnita Dunn
-
So worth while!! I learnt so much! Every parent should do this. - Robyn Klinac
-
As a parent, it was fantastic to learn about how thoughts create chemicals in our brain, and the feelings that follow. This empowered me to know when and how to communicate with my kids, especially when there were behavioural challenges. Both my kids have become more emotionally resilient as a result. - Kelley Leonard.
